Wiki Education invites disability studies scholars, medical practitioners, and other subject-matter experts to participate in a free, one-day editing workshop to improve articles on Wikipedia relating to disabilities. In this one-day event, we’ll improve the visibility of Wikipedia’s coverage of healthcare for adults with developmental disabilities. We’re collaborating with the WITH Foundation to add high-quality information to Wikipedia in this topic area, informing the public with potentially life-changing knowledge. With two chances to join us, May 22 or May 30th, you’ll be a vital part in updating and correcting Wikipedia’s content..
Wikipedia has a proven track record for affecting collective behavior across a wide range of sectors. Averaging 18 billion page views per month, it is the 5th most visited website in the world. And Wikipedia readers are not just students doing homework or friends settling an argument. Research shows Wikipedia content influences tourism, scientists, and even judges’ legal rulings. Let’s leverage that power to improve healthcare accessibility for adults with developmental disabilities, educating everyone from journalists to policymakers to the medical community.
